A cloud IRL streaming pilot: phone → server → Twitch
A cloud streaming pilot for a streamer: the phone sends its feed to a VPS, MediaMTX receives it, a headless OBS composes the frame and pushes it to Twitch. NOALBS watches the bitrate and switches between the LIVE, LOW and DISCONNECTED scenes.

The task
Build an IRL streaming setup for a streamer on a VPS, where a lost phone signal never stops the Twitch broadcast or splits the recording, without touching the services already running on the server.
What I did
- Pipeline: Custom RTMP or SRT from the phone → MediaMTX → headless OBS → Twitch
- Bitrate-driven scenes and chat commands for the admin only
- An installer with a server audit, backup and clean removal
- Load tests: 1080p60 is out of reach on 2 vCPUs; the working point is 720p30 with zero dropped frames
- Found and worked around two OBS config errors that make the stream fail silently
Proof
- A runbook with measurements for six configurations: FPS, render time, dropped frames, CPU load
- The build was verified on a test bench with the same software stack
