VFX and AI for war films: chroma key, ruins, uniforms and transitions
Shot work for a short war film and an episode of a series: chroma key replacement, AI-built destruction, uniform recolouring shot by shot and an AI transition between scenes. Part of the shots ran on an urgent schedule, with same-day delivery.

The task
Make shots filmed on a stage and on location convincing for the war era: replace the background, build the destruction, bring uniforms and details to the right look, without breaking the light or the camera move.
What I did
- Chroma key: the blue screen in the arch replaced by a night city with smoke and searchlights, the edges matched to the actor
- Shot rework: an intact facade turned into ruins, with smoke and searchlight beams added
- Uniforms brought to the Soviet look shot by shot: only the clothing colour changes, faces and backgrounds stay untouched
- An AI transition between scenes, with the soldiers’ helmets in the generated transition replaced by Soviet ones
- Shot generation and rework in Kling and Runway, every frame checked for artefacts before delivery
Proof
- In the reel on this page a wipe crosses the frame: after on the left, before on the right
- Film titles, credits and names are not published
